Course Overview

Purpose of the Course:  Students will learn how to be leaders of their own lives as well as what it looks like to be a leader in their world of influence.  Leadership isn’t just a position.  It is a way of interacting with the world and other people that makes you more effective as a human being in accomplishing your goals and helping others accomplish theirs.  Being a Leader improves all relationships and makes you more effective at communication and influencing others in a positive way.  During this course you will learn how to be an effective leader so that you can make good choices for your own life and communicate with others in a way that will give you more opportunities.  A huge part of Leadership is Emotional Intelligence.  Simply put, emotional intelligence is one’s ability to be able to react to a person or a situation appropriately and productively.  Workplace effectiveness takes leadership and emotional intelligence to be successful.  “70% of people who lost jobs did so not because of skills or aptitude, but because of lack of people skills and interpersonal skills.”
